Meeting for the first time electronically, the Westport Board of Education tonight voted to cancel the scheduled April vacation.
The vote was 6-0 with member Vik Muktavaram abstaining.
The scheduled vacation days April 6-9 will now be used to continue remote learning during the COVID-19 outbreak. As previously scheduled, school will be closed on Good Friday, April 10.
Interim Superintendent David Abbey, who reported not a unanimous backing but a “strong sentiment” for the move among teachers and administrators, said school will now end on June 12.
