He was surrendered in an under-fed and under-trained condition but his intelligence combined with his tremendous heart will make future training a breeze. The three meals a day of puppy food that he is getting now will help too put some pounds on his skinny frame. According to Daisy’s foster mom, she deserves to win Doggie Mom of the Year because of the loving and patient care she gave to her nine pups. Hi, I’m Chewbacca! (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Connecticut Humane Society

Did you just say ahhh! when you saw this picture? Of course you did. This is little Chewbacca, an altered male 9-week old pit mix puppy. This friendly little guy can be found at the CT Humane Society, 455 Post Road E., (203) 227-4137. Chewbacca showed up on the doorsteps in need of some loving attention at the tender age of one week old. One of our staff members scooped him up, took him home, bottle-fed him and got him into fine shape. As you can imagine, he is the little darling around here. He’s very affectionate, playful, loves other dogs BUT as his name implies, is very chewy. Home ownership is required to adopt Chewbacca as well as passing the staff and volunteer interrogation. He’s our baby!

Princess is a 4-year-old spayed female shepherd mix. This is a dog that you can just sit for hours and pet. She truly just wants to be loved. When you look at through her cage she picks up whatever toy she has handy and brings it to the front of the cage as a friendly offering. Luis is a 5-year-old altered male domestic short hair. His family decided to move and leave him behind. His funny little ears, though endearing, are the result of ear mites left untreated for too long. He is ear-mite free now, however. He is so very friendly and needs a loving new home. She’s a spayed female, declawed (indoor cat only!) domestic short hair that is on the senior side (11 years old). She loves to cuddle and is quick to jump into your arms when you open the cage. Miss Sofia would prefer to be the only cat in your home. How about giving our sweet Sofia a happy ending?
