Mark A.R. Cooper, district director, said clients will be seen beginning April 10 with appointments made by calling (203)227-9571.
Cooper said the clinics were suspended at the end of December because the district decided to change its model of operation from using physicians, to an APRN—Advance Practice Registered Nurse to provide clinic services.
“To offer vaccinations the WWHD needs to have physician or an APRN on board to validate standing orders,” he said.
“The move reduces our costs and provides an opportunity to offer a wider range of services. We began looking for an APRN in January and found the right candidate end of February/beginning of March.”
Cooper said D’Onofio is originally from New Haven and moved to Westport in 2011. He completed his baccalaureate degree in nursing at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. and went on to earn a Master of Science of Nursing at Fairfield University.
He will be earning a Doctor in Nursing Practice from the University of Arkansas in May, Cooper said.
