The iconic Westport barber who owned and operated the shop for nearly 60 years died Jan. 7 at age 83.

The new owner, Uzbekistan-born Rami Pirov, a Queens, New York resident, assumed ownership this week.

Pirov said he emigrated to the United States in 1994 and practiced his barber trade in New York’s Upper East Side on Third Avenue between 92nd and 93rd Streets until 1999.

He then relocated to the suburbs, Holbrook, New York on Long Island in 1999 where he remained until 2017.

“I owned several barber shops during that time but chose to move my family out of New York State,” said the father of four boys, 9-year-old twins, and 8- and 6-year olds.

“I want to live the American Dream and am fortunate to take over ownership of this well known shop in Westport,” he said.

Pirov, who commutes daily between Queens and Westport, said he will move his family to the Westport area.

The shop will have expanded hours (under Ghianuly it was closed Sunday and Monday.) Pirov said will be open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Regular customers of Felice and other barbers at the shop will find them continuing to clip away under the new ownership.

“I’m pleased the barbers who worked at the Compo Barber shop will remain here,” said Pirov.
