Maxine Hinkle, wife of the late Calvin S. Hinkle and a resident of Westport since 1959, died March 9 at Maplewood of Orange Assisted Living. She was 89.

She was born in West Virginia on Dec. 10, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Guy and Vera (Law) Heckert.
She was an active member in the Westport community and was a member of the Westport Weston Y’s Women, the Westport Woman’s Club, the Westport Beach Bunch, and the Westport Gourmet Club.
She was a volunteer at the Carousel Thrift Store and a longtime member of the Southport Congregational Church.
Survivors include one son, Mark C. Hinkle and his wife Jean of South Meriden, one daughter, Joan Bowser and her husband Carroll of Stratford, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and her partner of 17 years, Neil Croarkin of Westport.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral on Saturday, March 17 at 2 p.m., meeting directly at Southport Congregational Church, 524 Pequot Ave. Southport, with a reception to follow.
The Harding Funeral Home in Westport is assisting the family with the arrangements.
