The Staples boys soccer team dug themselves an early hole tonight in Trumbull. Defensive mishaps led to a 2-0 Eagles lead. But the Wreckers roared back. Patricio Perez Elorza’s goal, from George Smith, halved the deficit before halftime. Staples got the equalizer in the second half, when Lars Djuve nodded keeper Reed Caney’s long punt on to Evan Birns. The senior finished with poise and precision. The Wreckers pressed for the equalizer, but settled for a 2-2 tie. Murilo Moreno also shined for the Westporters, who are now 3-1-1. They travel to Fairfield Warde Thursday, for a 5:30 p.m. match.
